In 2008 me and a friend went on a morning ride. And as i was traveling down the interstate. I was struck by a lady that was on her cell phone. She was. Comming off an off ramp. I can tell you that ounce it happens theres now taking it back. My vtx1800 rode me hard for over 100 yards before i stopped. I am a firm bielever in helmets. But i also beileve it should be your god given choice and not the goverments. Ride safe and watch for the other drivers on the road

"My Helmet My Choice " 1977 I was going 5mph into a intersection and was T-Bone by a car making a turn with the SUN in their eyes! I REMEMBER my Head hitting the pavement HARD 3 X's (wearing a Helmet)! If not for my helmet I would not be in my right mind, not that I am now LOL!, I do wear my helmet 85% of the time, but truely believe IT'S MY CHOICE!!! RideYourOwnRide

I agree that it should be a choice. I don't like having my senses confined, especially when I'm depending on them to keep me aware of my surroundings. Kind of a catch 22, yes, a helmet will sustain your head from injury, but would you have still been in an accident if your reaction time had been increased and your senses not been deadened by a helmet? Me personally, I'd rather splatter my brains on the highway than be a burden on my loved ones for the rest of my life.

IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO MANDATE OUR CHOICES!!! Seatbelts do not make better drivers and accidents have increased exponentially every time a new safety "feature" is added to automobiles. Riders should always seek to increase their skills as a rider constantly. If you want to ride safe, ride as if you were completely naked. let congress pass laws mandating helmets. Then they ban red meat, and salt, and require you to act like a sheep to a shepherd. They want to tell you where to work, who to marry, how many kids to have. This country was founded by men who wanted FREEDOM from an oppressive government.
